Vilafamés reopens the Castell to the public

The Castell de Vilafamés is once again open to the public. The action to improve and adapt

the architectural environment, of enormous heritage and cultural value, has been

successfully completed. The tasks have been directed in two aspects: on the one hand, the

rehabilitation entails an increase in the safety of pedestrians who visit the site, with greater

accessibility and a correct adaptation of accesses and interior routes with walkways.

On the other hand, the rehabilitation has been carried out with the protection of the areas

pending future archaeological intervention. In addition, action has been taken in the

conservation of the defensive utensils of the fortification of the Castell, with the different

strata formed by the different cultures and previous generations.

The Castell crowns the silhouette of Vilafamés and is the basis of the heritage and cultural

offer of one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. With the adaptation of this space of high

architectural and historical value, the strategy developed by the consistory guarantees a

better experience for the thousands of visitors who come to the municipality every year.
