FESTIVITIES

Sant Antoni

Dates: January.
There is a special connection with the ancestral festival in honour of Sant Antoni, where the typical “matxà”, the bonfire, is lit, together with the blessing and distribution of rolls.

Trade, Agricultural and Livestock Fair

Dates: April.
This event is a must for professionals in the world of agriculture and livestock farming to learn about new products and techniques to improve their products, increase their productivity and raise their profits.

Easter

Dates: April.
Solemn religious ceremonies are celebrated with a central event: the Holy Burial procession.

Pilgrimage to Sant Cristòfol Chapel

Date: May.
In a place of great ecological beauty and wonderful views, especially in the municipal area, a large pilgrimage sets out from the village church. Then, after mass, there is a meal with a monumental paella free for all those attending, ending with a fun evening open-air party for the whole town.

Sant Antoni Montalba/Open-air festival

We start the summer calendar with the festivities in honour of Sant Antoni de Montalba with “la matxà” bonfire, traditional horseback riding and the distribution of the traditional “rollo” in preparation for two weekends with bullfighting and large open-air dances that fill the streets of this district of Vall d’Alba.

Sant Jaime Pla de l’Arc/Open-air festival

Dates: July.
Every July, Pla de l’Arc brings together thousands of people from all corners of the province who come to enjoy its popular summer festivals. In addition, there is a bullfighting programme and the Remember festival for people of all ages.

La Mare de Déu del Àngels

Dates: July.
La Barona celebrates its local festivities at the end of July. They celebrate their patron saint with processions, open-air dinners, and cultural and recreational events.

L’Assumpció

Dates: August.
La Pelejaneta celebrates its patron saint on 15 August with a simple programme that brings together the local people and others who love this village.

Sant Joan Baptista and Immaculada Concepció / Patron saint festivities

Dates: August.

At the end of August, as the summer calendar comes to a close, Vall d’Alba’s main festivities are held. They are preceded by a cultural week in which all of the associations in the municipality take part as a prelude to a week full of events for all ages. Among the bullfighting events, it is worth mentioning the running of six bulls and the bull-leaping competition. The open-air dinners and dances bring together the town’s clubs and visitors who come to enjoy the end of the summer.
