Plana de l’Arc, November 18th, 2024 – On December 21st, the Roman Arch of Plana de l’Arc will host one of the most special celebrations of the season: the Slow Moments Saturnalia Festival, sponsored by the Castellón Provincial Council, an event that will transport visitors to ancient Rome with an atmosphere full of magic, tradition, and history.
The festival will take place in a unique setting, where the Roman Arch, the Augusta Way, and the historic path from the coast converge, a symbolic place rich in history and cultural heritage. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to enjoy various activities that recall the traditions of the Saturnalia, a Roman festival that marked the beginning of winter and profoundly influenced our modern Christmas celebrations.
The Saturnalia was a celebration dedicated to Saturn, the god of agriculture, during which homes were decorated with greenery, candles were lit, and gifts exchanged, creating an atmosphere of fraternity and joy. These traditions will be recreated during the festival to bring visitors closer to the customs of ancient Rome.
With the aim of preserving and honoring the rich Roman heritage of the area, the Slow Moments Saturnalia Festival will have the active participation of the seven municipalities of the Plana de l’Arc, as well as local product club businesses. Together, they will create an unforgettable day full of cultural activities, workshops, live music, and, of course, a wide selection of local traditional foods for visitors to enjoy.
